Thief Skills

This section covers all known information on the various Thief Skills.

Detoxify (Envenom L3+)
Max level: 1
Type: Active
SP Cost: Unknown
Target: 1 Player
Range: 9 Tiles
Cast time: 0
Cast delay: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Effect: Cures poison status on target.

Double Attack
Max level: 10
Type: Passive
Effect: Gives chance to hit twice with a single swing of a Dagger class weapon equal to 5%*Skill Level. In the case of an Assassin wielding two Dagger class weapons, it applies to the right-hand weapon only. It is also involved in the off-hand damage of a Katar according to the calculation ATK*(1%+2%*Skill Level).

Envenom
Required For: Detoxify (L3+), Enchant Poison (L1+, Assassin).

ATK Type: Poison property, Melee, Physical Attack
Cast time: 0
Cast delay: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Effect: An attack that adds 15*Skill Level damage (unmodified by Armor and Vit Def) to your normal damage. This bonus damage is always inflicted, whether your character lands a normal hit or not. Envenom has an unknown chance to inflict poison status on target (rising with skill level? Unknown). Undead and Bosses cannot be poisoned.

Hiding (Steal L5+)
Required For: Cloaking (L2+, Assassin).
Max level: 10
Type: Active

Target: Self
Cast time: 0
Cast delay: 1 second
Duration: 30*Level
Effect: Toggles the hide effect on the character on/off. Toggling the hide effect off consumes no sp. Hidden characters cannot move, attack or use any skill and do not regenerate HP or SP. The hide affect makes a character invisible to other players and monsters. This stops skills and spells that are targetted at you from working (those with casting times fail) and anything attacking you stops (assuming that their last hit doesn't hit you and reveal you!). Area affect skills and spells can still hit you. Insects, Demons and Boss monsters are not affected by the hide affect. If you get hit by anything while hiding, you will be revealed. Improve Concentration, Ruwach and Sight are all capable of revealing hidden characters.

Effect: Increases flee by 3*Skill Level.

Steal
Required For: Hiding (L5+).
Max level: 10
Type: Active

Target: 1 Monster (non-MVP)
Range: Melee Range
Cast time: 0
Cast delay: 1 second
Duration: Instant
Effect: Attempts to "steal" an item from the targetted monster. Only items dropped by the monster can be stolen. A successful Steal attempt will not affect what is dropped when the monster dies. After success, it is not possible to Steal again from the same monster. Boss monsters and those affected by the Frozen and Stone Curse effects cannot be stolen from.

The formula for stealing is believed to be AdjustedDropRatio = DropRatio*(Dex + 3*Skill Level - MonsterDex + 10)/100 where DropRatio is the percent chance of a particular item being dropped. If the result of the steal check is lower than the AdjustedDropRatio for an item, then it is possible that item will be stolen. I assume some random method decides which item is actually stolen out of the short list of possible items.

Thief Skill Quests

With the Comodo patch there are now 4 different Skills that a Thief can learn through quests. Following is information on how to get them and what they do.

Find Stone (Thief Job 20+ or Assassin/Rogue):
Other Requirements: Talk to Alcouskou in the right-hand room of the Thief Guild (moc_prydb1, 154/128). Ask to learn Find Stone. If you have 1 Bear's Footskin, 1 Zargon and 5 Spawn he will teach you the skill.
Type: Active Skill
SP Cost: 2
Casting Time: 0.5 seconds
Effect: Adds one Stone item to your inventory. Will not work if you are overweight (more than 50% of total weight capacity). Can chain use this skill.

Stone Fling (Thief Job 20+ or Assassin/Rogue):
Other Requirements: Talk to Alcouskou in the right-hand room of the Thief Guild (moc_prydb1, 154/128). Ask to learn Stone Fling. If you have 2 Garlet and 2 Scell he will teach you the skill. You probably need to get Find Stone first as you can't use this skill without stones (although some monsters in the Comodo maps drop Stone).

ATK Type: Neutral, ranged, physical
Cast Time: 1 second
Cast delay: ~1 second
Duration: Instant
Effect: An attack that always does 50 points of damage and has a 5% chance of causing the stun effect, and an unknown chance of blind effect on the target. Consumes one stone per use. Useful for luring monsters link monsters away from a pack and other such sneaky thief-like trips.

Sand Attack (Thief Job 25+ or Assassin/Rogue):
Other Requirements: Talk to Alcouskou in the right-hand room of the Thief Guild (moc_prydb1, 154/128). Ask to learn Sand Attack. If you have 5 Fine Grit then he will agree to teach you, but first you must bring him a Leather Bag of Infinity from the merchant that sells them in Payon. Talk to Bag Seller in Payon Town (payon, 28/121) and he will tell you to bring him 1 Earthworm Peeling, 1 Cobweb and 1 Cactus Needle. Bring him these and he will give you 1 Leather Bag of Infinity. It's probably not a good idea to drop this special quest item on the ground. You may now return to Alcouskou and ask him about Sand Attack again. As long as you have the Leather Bag of Infinity in your inventory he will now teach you the skill.

Effect: An attack with an ATK modifier of 125% with a 15% chance to cause blind effect.

Back Slide (Thief Job 35+ or Assassin/Rogue):
Other Requirements: Talk to Alcouskou in the right-hand room of the Thief Guild (moc_prydb1, 154/128). Ask to learn Back Slide. If you have 20 Grasshopper's Leg, then he will teach you the skill.

Cast time: 0
Cast delay: 0.5 seconds
Duration: Instant
Effect: Moves you backwards 5 cells (depends on the direction you are facing).

Accessory: All Accessories (except Novice Armlet!).
Armor: Adventurer's Suit, Chainmail, Coat, Cotton Shirt, Formal Suit, Jacket, Mantle, Mink Coat (30), Ninja Suit (50), Padded Armor, Pantie, Silk Robe, Thief Clothes, Wedding Dress.
Foot Gear: All Foot Gear.
Garment: All Garments.
Headgear: All "Novice" Hats (long list), Cap, Cigar, Coronet, Crown (45), Gemmed Sallet, Goggles, Golden Gear (40), Munak Hat, Orc Helm, Pipe, Spiky Band (50), Tiara (45).
Shield: Buckler, Guard.
Weapons: All Bows (except Hunter Bow), All Daggers, All Swords (except Flamberge).
